Emotional Intelligence Webinar

This 45-minute webinar was hosted by ComPsych Corporation.  The presenter provided insights to emotional intelligence.  More specifically, attendees learned the difference between intelligence and emotional intelligence, the benefits of having emotional intelligence, and the components of emotional intelligence.  Attendees were also provided strategies for improving emotional intelligence and tools to improve capacity for emotional self-control through mindfulness meditation, monitoring self-statements and active listening.

Grant Writing Webinar

January 23rd, 2025 | 45 minutes 

This 45-minute webinar was hosted by Carrie Ridgway (Director of Development and Operations for the Foundation for Maine’s Community Colleges) & Christopher Winstead (Deputy Executive Director of Workforce Training for the Maine Community College System).  Carrie and Chris provided insights to Grant Writing.  More specifically, attendees gained a foundational understanding of how to create a compelling narrative for grant applications, learned to capture their organization's history effectively, demonstrate the need for their project, and craft narratives that address funders' questions and meet application criteria, as well as learned the distinctions between narratives tailored for federal, state, and private philanthropic grants.

Employee Performance Evaluation Training

December 6th, 2024 | 35 minutes 

This 35-minute training session was hosted by Dr. Jennifer Laney on behalf of the Maine Community College System Office Human Resources Department.  Dr. Laney presented a training on performance employee performance evaluations.  More specifically, attendees learned more about the collective bargaining unit contracts, how to prepare for a performance evaluation, how to provide a performance evaluation and how to complete the post-performance evaluation steps.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness

December 4th, 2024 | 45 minutes 

This 45-minute training session was hosted by Matt Colver, Director of Financial Aid at York County Community College.  Matt walked attendees through the process of loan forgiveness as an employee in public service.  More specifically, employees received an overview of the program, learned who benefits from the program, learned qualifying information, and walked through the process of applying.

Supervisor Training

November 19th, 2024 | 30 minutes 

This 30-minute training session was hosted by Dr. Jennifer Laney, Interim Director of Employee Development at the Maine Community College System. Dr. Laney conducted a training on being a supervisor.  More specifically, employees learned how to implement mission and vision into their supervisory practices, understand the role and responsibilities of a supervisor, enhance communication techniques, develop strategies for goal setting and feedback, gain insights on collective bargaining units & contracts, build solid team dynamics and motivate employees, and identify opportunities for professional development and training.

Supervising Remote/Hybrid Employees

This 45-minute webinar was hosted by Joshua Howe, Executive Director of Workforce Training and remote working at the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce.  Joshua presented on the topic of supervising remote/hybrid employees.  More specifically, the benefits and challenges of remote and hybrid work to individuals and organizations, the principles of remote and hybrid management, how to ensure equity and engagement of remote and hybrid employees, and how to establish and monitor performance for remote and hybrid employees.
